Hello Everybody,
Here goes a very personal post from me! But with an open question to you all:
Can you share about some one who has inspired you by their actions during your life journey?
I like to advise all the students I meet during my visits around Europe to take the opportunities they have to travel and to meet people from different cultures – just go somewhere that is challenging for you! Places and people you don’t really understand at first! I believe this is one of the best ways to learn more about yourself, your own culture and start to deeply accept and understand differences.
Up with People is without a doubt an outstanding programme in this sense; you travel every week to a different culture with a extreme diverse group. In six months, you learn more about yourself and your culture that over many years of school. – But I don’t want to be bias now: There are so many different ways for experience new culture! If you have the opportunity: Do it!
There is one another very important thing I experienced by all this travelling and all the people we met during my time with UWP. We met so many people that had an idea, and make it up to do something really impact full for the world! I have mentioned some of my stories on an earlier post.
By meeting and listening them, working to meet their community’s needs, we learn a little bit more how can we also do something!
To make my point, I will leave you with an Non-Up with People example of someone from a different culture that has inspired me with her ideas, Kiran Bir, from India:
Check the website of TED as well- www.ted.com – TED is one of my favorite websites, there you can see some speeches of very inspiring people! I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them are Up with People Alumni as well! Actually, if you know any Alumni that has a TED talk, please, bring it to our attention!
With all that said, I ask you again:
Would you share some of the stories and people that have inspired you?
Thank you fro the feedback!
Have a great weekend!
Leo
